2025 is shaping to be an enormous year for community football in Victoria, with record-breaking numbers in competitions, fixtures and teams.
More than 50,000 fixtures have been generated for the over 5,500 teams playing in over 550 competitions – an all-time high for these competitions.
The first weekend of State League Women (SLW) fixtures offers some exciting fixtures fans can look forward to.
Recently promoted Manningham United Blues FC will be tested early as they face last year’s two Victorian Premier League Women (VPLW) sides, who were relegated, South Yarra SC and FC Noble Hurricanes, twice in the first six weeks in Round 2 & 6 respectively.
Last year’s SLW1 North-West 2nd & 3rd placed sides in Mill Park SC & FC Clifton Hill will face off in Round 2 art Quarries Park.
The 2024 SLW3 East Premier & Runner-Up Collingwood City FC & Mooroolbark SC will face off in Round 1 at Esther Park Reserve while the reigning SLW3 South Premier Aspendale SC will host last year’s runner-up Seaford United SC in Round 3.
The new season also brings about confirmation of the MiniRoos Boys (U7 – U11) and Junior Boys (U12 – U16) naming convention update to MiniRoos Mixed & Junior Mixed.
This change aligns with the Community Competitions Dispensation Policy and further talks to FV’s values, vision and purpose to inspire, unite and enable All Victorians to live and love football for life, while ensuring our game continues to lead the way in providing equal opportunities for all.
As part of the 2024 Regional Review Recommendations in further talking to our Strategic Framework, FV are excited to manage and administer the Community Competitions in 2025 for the FV South-West Region and for a second year running the FV Latrobe Valley Region Senior Competitions prior to full implementation of the Regional Review Recommendations in 2026.
Following six Clubs from the 2024 Community Premier League Girls (CPL) season being successful in obtaining a Junior Girls NPL (JGNPL) license, FV received a large number of applications for the 2025 CPL season.
With a high number of strong applications, FV expanded the CPL competition for the 2025 season into two 10-team North-West & South-East leagues. These leagues consist of Clubs from both Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria.
