The Truganina Lions Soccer Club (TLSC) was established in October 2022, and commenced playing competitive football in 2023.
The Club prides itself on being a community—and family-focused club that endeavours to promote inclusive participation in Girls’ and Boys’ sports as a way of life within the community at all times.
Based at Alcock Road Reserve Truganina, we have strived to serve the local community for the last couple of years. In our short tenure, we have provided a platform for Girls and Boys to pursue their passion for playing football.
We take great pride in training and coaching our Girls and Boys and stive to deliver a service of excellence with every interaction. Our in-house team of coaches brings a varied knowledge and expertise to each lesson. While our committee ensures you’re always looked after.
As a bunch of mostly ex players ourselves, we know that every child has unique goals and outcomes for their soccer future. We will continue to offer the highest level of accreditation from our coaches as we can in our training to suit your childs soccer needs.
In early 2022 Council conducted a Community Survey for interest in creating a sports complex at Alcock Road Reserve. The council had a fantastic response, which provided important feedback and information before the council ‘activated’ the new facility.
The people who indicated their interest in the survey were invited to be involved in the proposed soccer club and therefore invited to a community consultation night, where the council began discussions around what is involved in building a successful club.
Those interested were then involved in the club’s inaugural committee, where council went in to greater detail on the process, about the feedback from the community surveys, and the vision and expectations for the club moving forward.
The group was tasked with finding a preferred club name, colours, and Logo. The name should aim to try and reflect the local Truganina community.
The next meeting in mid August of 2022, it was decided that the name was going to be Truganina Lions Soccer Club. The Colours were difficult in the end because Truganina was such a culturally diverse community. It was decided that the three majority colours from the flags representing the major cultures within the committee would be used hence Green, Blue and Yellow (Gold). The lion was chosen for it strenght and since of community, hence a lions pride.
The committee had to create a constitution, submit an application to Football Victoria and create a budget along with a number of other requirements. Which lead to our first AGM on the 3 Oct 2022 and TLSC becoming incorpoated.
